Fishing was great. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. It was relaxing week away! We will surely return soon!
We all enjoyed the time spent at Big Barbee. From an amazing host Kathy to time spent with five cousins together for a week. Tennessee and Middlebury apart and thoroughly enjoy this cottage. Clean, beautiful, and no problems at all. Thanks Kathy for the experience!!
Property was nice and quiet, had all of the amenities we needed and we were upgraded upon arrival! Was nice having a pier to use and if you have small children the little sandy beach was nice. There was close by dining at the Barbee hotel and a little convenience store at end of lane.
We enjoyed our quick stay in Indiana. The cottage was extremely clean. We enjoyed being able to walk right down to the lake and I could not even believe it but Kathy took us out on her boat! I was so grateful – my 10 year old said that was the best part 🙂
This was such a perfect place to stay! Kathy was a great host and kept communication with us the whole time. It’s only a short walk to the pier and a small beach, The house also has all the amenities you need and then some! I am recommending to all my family that comes and stays on the Barbee Chain O Lakes.
Kathy was a great host and she went above and beyond. Bill and I spent a great weekend with in a cute cottage. Our kids and grands came to visit us and we made great memorie! Thank you Kathy!
A most excellent week at Big Barbee the week of July 4th Independence Day celebration. Loved everything about it. Location, lake activities, cottage. Just beautiful! Kathy was by far the best hostess I’ve had for short term rental!
Owner was very nice and helpful! Small space but with everything we needed, and just a short walk from the lake with a dock for a boat. The day of our check out she even told us we could stay past check out time since there were no other visitors that day.
What a nice little nugget this property location is for folks looking for a little get away. This was a great place to bring our boat for a long weekend. Chain of lakes are clean and people are super friendly! Kathy was super helpful in making sure we had everything we needed
Nice and clean place that was great for what we were looking for. Like the fact you had a t.v. in each room. We were visiting Middlebury and amish country more than anything else and was a little bit of a drive but very manageable and we enjoyed the scenery and the people. Kathy was nice enough to offer us a boat ride even though we had already made other plans we did appreciate the offer. Thanks.
Great location, on the lake with spots to park a boat if you have one. We used the dock for fishing, enjoyed the sand and swim area, and used the row boat for a ride too! We rented a boat from Tippy Marina so we spent one day on that lake. Next time I’d rent from Barbee marina so we could just park at the cottage and stay on our own lake all day. (Be sure to book in advance-we neglected that and we’re lucky to get a one day rental calling 2 weeks in advance at tippy). We went to the grocery store and had most meals at the cottage. We grilled mostly but also used inside for breakfast-eggs, toast, pancakes. Kathy has some spices there and all utensils you’d need. Honestly the only thing I didn’t see that I have in my home kitchen is a blender—she even had a hand mixer! My kids loved having the park area which is shared with Kathy’s other rental properties so they got to play with some new friends.
House was exactly as stated on the ad. Very quaint and cute house located about 75 feet down the road from the edge of the lake. The kitchen has all the things you would need for a weekend or longer stay. We were able to comfortably sleep 6 (2 adults and 4 teenagers). The bathroom and shower were fine. The hostess was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and things to do when the lakefront was not on the plan. There were kayaks and paddleboards for use in the water. A long pier was good for impromptu fishing. Would recommend staying here.
We will definitely be returning, Kathy had everything we could think of available For our use. The children as well as the adults had a great time. Kid pool, kayak, boats, sand toys, Floats & life vest. She was very kind and friendly to everyone. And was very helpful and knowledgeable with the area and where to go.
My husband and I rented this home for a long weekend get-a-way (with our dog). It had everything you could need, well stocked kitchen, LOTS of TV channels, nice beds, etc. The owner was super responsive to all messages (even before booking) and was very helpful once we got there. She even left us a few snacks. I think later in the spring/Summer would be a great place to visit so you could utilize the lake activities more (which is not what we wanted to do).
Very nice and spacious property within a short walking distance to the lake.. The property manager, Kathy, is extremely friendly and helpful. I would rent this place again in a heartbeat.
Kathy was an excellent host! The property was clean and close to the lake. One downside: The sandbar was covered in seaweed and dirty so we just jumped on the pier and floated near the dock.
Kathy was great – available whenever we had a question, showed us around the property and amenities. The cottage fit the 10 of us – we mostly ate out on the patio to fit as a group. The dock space was perfect for our rented boats and we found many places to anchor and float. Kids did a little fishing off the dock. House had everything we needed to be comfortable, prepare meals, and enjoy ourselves!
